To answer the call of savvy patients who have been searching for a more aggressive way to take years off their appearance without surgery or the lengthy downtime and discomfort of traditional ablative or fractional technologies, the latest in laser skin therapy has now arrived to the Nashville area.

Avanti Skin Center is proud to be the first in Williamson and Davidson counties to offer this revolutionary new procedure.  The Pearl laser is able to maximize the ratio of cosmetic benefit to patient downtime. In one or two treatments, results may be obtained with the Pearl with only 4 days of aesthetic downtime per treatment. Unlike older resurfacing lasers which have up to 4 weeks of medical and social downtime with significant risks of scarring and infection, the Pearl has a very low risk profile.   Fractional devices require 4-6 treatments done monthly to approach the results obtained with the Pearl, and a total of 16-24 days of medical and social downtime due to lingering pain and swelling. Also, unlike fractional lasers, the Pearl can treat the entire thickness of the whole epidermis, not just a portion of it, in a single treatment session. 

What allows these treatment outcomes to be achieved is a three fold effect of the innovative technology, wavelength, and settings available on the Pearl:

1) Ablation: The safe removal of a portion of the epidermis (outer skin layer) is achieved immediately.  This vaporization of 10-30 microns of epidermis immediately removes the most damaged skin layer.

2) Coagulation: Simultaneously, sufficient heat to produce coagulation is generated in the remaining epidermis. Depending upon selected energy, the depth of coagulation region can be partial or full thickness of the remaining epidermis. The coagulation creates a natural protective dressing on the skin that remains intact during the restorative process. This natural dressing peels off in 3-4 days revealing the freshly restored and healthy skin.

3) Collagen Remodeling: Finally, residual heat in the dermis stimulates new collagen growth further refining and smoothing the skin over the next several weeks.
