Age spots, which typically form in areas of high sun exposure such as the face, neck, chest and hands, represent damaged skin from sun exposure.  No one is born with hereditary freckles.  Those “cute freckles” are in fact an indication of damage to your skin and would not otherwise be there if you had not been exposed to the damaging rays of the sun.  Even more concerning, some of these brown spots, known as actinic or solar keratoses, may become pre-cancerous if not removed. These appear as a small, rough spot on skin that has been chronically exposed to the sun.  If there is any aspect of your spots that appear suspicious, the Avanti professionals will ensure that they are benign before treating over that lesion. Those with fair skin are at greatest risk for this damage, but all skin types are subject to this visible evidence of skin injury which shows on the surface as these brown lesions.  If there are brown spots or freckles visible on the surface of the skin,  there are usually even more problems in the deeper layers of the skin adding to the “aged look.”   All of these problems can be treated using Avanti’s advanced “3D Rejuvenation” program, of which the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) used for the treatment of these lesions is a part.

TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES

Limelight™ Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
Now featuring the newest and most advanced  Intense Pulsed Light  (IPL) system available today from Cutera®. In keeping with Avanti Skin Center’s philosophy to provide treatments individually tailored to your skin’s need, we now have control over all of the treatment parameters required to optimize your results, while maintaining the unique safety and comfort features unique to Cutera®.  

An innovative way to quickly, safely and comfortably  stimulate the most superficial collagen layer, fade fine veins, and remove sun spots and age spots from your face, chest, arms, and hands without gel or topical anesthetics.  The signs of sun damage will flake off after one or more treatments leaving clear, younger looking skin.  “Intelligent”  Intense Pulse Light, at specific wavelengths  seeks out and safely destroys red and brown dyschromia (abnormal pigmentation) at the skin surface. Avanti utilizes a state-of-the-art, real time individual pulse-calibrated light source technology to accurately and safely treat without the risk of under or overexposure.  In addition, dynamic feedback contact cooling further protects the skin and adds to your comfort.

Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic Therapy adds a light sensitizing agent called Levulan®  (5-aminolevulinic acid or ALA) which is absorbed by the target lesion thus accelerating and optimizing the effectiveness of the treatment.  These treatments can not only remove sun damaged precancerous zones and spots called actinic keratoses, but also improve the appearance of fine lines and blotchy pigmentation.  Moderately severe acne and rosacea also are effective targets for photodynamic therapy with amazing results.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a progressive, non-surgical approach to skin care which results in immediate improvement in your skins appearance and texture.  The ExcellaDerm™  M2000 used at Avanti Skin Center is a physician grade machine with multiple patents providing the most effective treatment possible.  It can be used alone, or as an adjunctive treatment to light based therapies providing quicker results.  Most individuals achieve maximum benefit from a series of treatments spaced two weeks to a month apart  Damaged and aged cells are exfoliated and vacuumed away, brown spots fade,  the production of collagen is stimulated, elasticity improved, the skin is smoothed, and your skin has a more youthful, glowing appearance.
